Homestead mango production
We worked with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD), with funding from CIDA to embark on a women’s empowerment project that sought to promote the cultivation of mangoes by households. The objective was to mitigate the effect of climate change on traditional crop production. Yields of crops like millet, groundnuts and sorghum has been declining as a result of erratic rainfall and declining soil fertility caused by continuous cropping. Households in the Builsa Districts were supported to find alternative sources of income to maintain their quality of life.
